The Starrett 1018MA inside dial caliper gauge opens from 25 mm to 75 mm with a 75 mm gauging depth, and has carbide ball contacts for longer life and wear resistance. The deep opening reaches into the workpiece, such as in bores of castings and inside readings in fabrications, to easily measure small sections of that workpiece. The retraction lever allows for one-handed use and gauge control, while a direct reading dial hand is accurate.
Dial indicators may also be called dial gauges, dial calipers, and probe indicators. These precision measuring tools are used to accurately measure small linear distances and object sizes. The dial magnifies the measurement so that it can more easily be read by the human eye.
